Fangs - Which has biggest: GTP's or ETB's?

dleary946 Apr 03, 2004 07:23 AM

One could infer from the Emerald Tree Boa's Latin name (Corallus caninus) that it would be the ETB, but I was wondering if this is true. Maybe, like so many other physical attributes, the two species share similarly sized fangs as well?

Anyone here who has kept both should know. I'm just curious about these beautiful creatures, and am learning about both to decide if I'd like to keep one (not for breeding purposes, however). I have experience with Milksnakes, Sand Boas and Brazilian Rainbow Boas, but this would be my first tree-dwelling snake. Both species seem very interesting.

--The fang size will have nothing to do with my decision; I just saw a picture of an ETB's fangs and was quite impressed!

Thanks,

Man I will tell you what I have A 1.2 ETB and A 3.5 GTP and I pray that I never get bit by one of those ETBs.Whenever I get A new reptile I always check them out from head to toe well I always check their mouths for rot respitory etc.....Well I just got two ETBS in and those fangs are at least one quarter or more long so the answer to your question is most definately the ETBs fangs down(LOL.Hope this helps

Neither!!! They have teeth, not fangs. fangs are used by the venomous. Etb's have much , much larger teeth than Gtp's
