? about spring mix

kephy Apr 03, 2004 09:46 AM

I've seen a few people mention using spring mix in their beardies diet for variety. The spring mix at my grocery store has lots of good stuff like endive and escarole... but it also has some spinach and red lettuce, and a few things I don't recognize. Should I pick out the stuff I'm unsure about, or is it okay to leave in considering all the good stuff it's mixed with? I've been picking out the spinach and lettuce, but it would be so much easier if I didn't have to. I should mention the spring mix only makes up about 1/4 of the entire salad, the rest being 1/2 mustard or collard greens, 1/4 rep-cal pellets, squash, & fruit. It's dusted w/ t-rex dragon dust.

In other news, I had Domo weighed yesterday and he's almost doubled in size since 3 weeks ago! Talk about a growth spurt!

Thats what I use only I do take out the spinich but leave the rest since the T-Rex vgf can be used on lettus. I have been using the Earth Bound Organic Spring mix that comes in a plastic container. They practically never wilt on me- I love it. I used to get the bag which is a little cheaper but found by buying Earthbound that I but less cause it lasts longer.

Spring mix has some really good stuff in it. And if you're only feeding one or two dragons it's pretty economical. Sounds like you're doing fine, I don't know that I would worry about picking stuff out though. Spinach, while it does bind some calcium, has a lot of other good stuff in it. You just wouldn't want to feed it and only it. As long as you are supplementing with some extra calcium (which you are), I would just leave it in there.
