Feeding experience with Bangkas

Paul Edwards Apr 03, 2004 11:28 AM

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience feeding Bangka bloods? I wanted to compare notes. I had 2 earlier, one fed right away. Out of 3 Bangkas I just got, one of the 3 ate 1 day after I got it. I also acquired 3 Sumatrans last year, all of which have fed from day one with no problems at all on F/T Rats. The imports from years ago NEVER ate this quick. These are all sub-adults. I got these in 2 nights ago and they came in fantastic; clean, no ticks or mites, perfectly healthy. Right off the boat too. Not for the faint of heart!

Actually these are from Kameron at Bushmaster. I got 3 of them. In fact I was very impressed, and I'm not easily impressed - one of the artifacts of being around for a while is that you become cynical. I was so impressed in fact that I just ordered 2 more ! I have a great shot of one but I don't have anywhere to post it. Maybe I can e-mail it to you or someone else that has an acct here & you can post it. Let me know. This was the first time I had done business with Kameron & I was very impressed. I asked him some tough, point blank questions & he answered them openly & honestly. He understates his animals...I like that. The specimens in the pics on his add BTW had been on the farm for about 8 months when those pics were taken. Very nice. I'm looking for good things out of these.
Wild caught Bloods come in looking nothing like what they will eventually look like. After you get them feeding well & after they have shed a few times, and cleared up any health problems, they are MUCH nicer. I received a bunch of wild caught Sumatrans (6 of them)when they first started coming in years ago. I was very dissapointed when I first got them. After about 6 months though they all looked great. I went through HELL getting those acclimated ! Bloods are just one of those animals that take a long time to acclimate & get looking their best. I could care less about their temperament. CB Bloods are as tame as Burms usually, but these wild caught imports are not for the beginner by any means. They'll give you a frontal labotamy in a heart beat ! LOL. But I like that. I deal primarily in color morphs of Boas & Balls. Balls especially are so docile it bores me. You need a good 'face grabber' around just to keep you on your toes ! Lets you know your alive !
