Too late to breed?

vernooyboy Apr 03, 2004 01:11 PM

This is my first year trying to breed. I have a pair of Albino val kings. I brought them out of brumation feb 16. She had her first shed march 20. My problem is she has shown no signs of interest in my male. She bunches up or runs away from him. I was just wondering if maybe I missed my window of opportunity. Is it too late? If anyone can help me it sure would be appreciated.

Thanx
Scott

she doesn't look much like she's ovulating. you might need to feed her more & hope she does so after her second shed, wouldn't be unprecedented. Also, sometimes females will wait a couple weeks before becoming receptive to a male, but that's not the norm. Lastly, I'm assuming she's a female NOT because she was sold to you as a female, but because you've probed and confirmed that gender? (Though if she were a male there'd probably be combatting between the two--one might be dominant to the other but you'd still see both of them attempting to crawl along the other). Let us know what transpires.
