Preferable cage size for a hatchling crested?

Amanda E Apr 03, 2004 05:04 PM

I have a 55 gallon tank that I have divided into 3 compartments, each one being approx 16" long x 12" wide x 21" high.

My question is, would a hatchling be okay in this large of a cage or would it be best to house them in a Kritter Keeper until they are larger?

You can easily get by with one of those mini-critter keepers. Put a piece of egg carton in there and you are all set.

They ain't the brightest geckos in the world - so you need to keep their food close.

Hope this helps.

Amanda, I raise my babies in clear topped shoe boxes (from the container store). I find that the smaller containers allow the geckos to find thier food easily and the clear tops keep you from snapping them in the lid without lifting the box to eye level. -Derek Moynihan
