Gravid Eastern King

I bought Brad Bauserman's breeding pair of captive bred MD locale Eastern's. The same ones on Hilson's site.

They have been placed together off and on from February thru March - but on March 14 the male shed and they locked up IMMEDIATELY when I put her in his cage.

She is opaque now and just HUGE from her midsection to her cloaca. The scales are distended - I am hoping she lays a bunch of eggs in a couple of weeks. If she sheds by Wednesday and then goes 10 days to egg laying - that would make it 33 days from OBSERVED copulation.

Do you think I witnessed fertilization or would it have been sooner?

Thats about 2-3 days faster than my NJ female did last year and it freaked me out. That same female is gravid right now and is very distended and she bred to my male on the 15th of Feb and then again on the 19th. She isnt opaque yet but she sure is very swollen for less than 3 weeks gravid. Maybe those northern Eastern types just kick em out faster than those Easterns to the south ??? Good luck with those by the way.
