Another thought on the BIG kingsnake issue--

In keeping captive snakes for a while I have noticed a peculiar thing...snakes LIKE to have their "backs"cracked.Having been to a chiropractor before I can only imagine what it is to have 100 vertebrae, lol. While not recommended for beginners, has anyone else tried to STRETCH their snakes?? While it may have something to do with a "cramped"environment, they really do seem to like it.It would make sense and I am sure this increases somewhat the bloodflow and stretches the muscles as well.Total length could be affected I think if you did this as a routine....for those of you with SIZE problems, lol.Jeff

Ya, if done correctly that does sound like it would be a nice treat for the snake. If only someone would do it to me! lol

I'm assuming you accidentally posted this April Fools Day humor two days late. Just wanted to clarify that for any newcomers to the forum who might think you were serious.

I have noticed, especially with my bigger kings, that their vertebrae will make those little snapping sounds as they unwind from my hand and move forward or away from me in general.

When I hear this and it's the snake that's moving on its own without any noticeable discomfort, I let the snake do its thing.
If I though for a moment that the snake was in danger, I'd quickly and gently place the snake on a solid, flat surface.

Letting them hang and making them stretch out to reach something in order to "benefit" their spine is a mistake IMO.

Having said that, I love the chiropractor myself and wish I could afford to go more!
