Almost all the leos available today are CB. Although they start out healthy, once a leo gets to a place like a pet store there is ample opportunity for it to pick up infections from other reptiles which may have occupied the cage previously or were previously handled by the employees or from contaminated feeders. Leos can also pick up infections from feeders supplied by the breeder or through poor husbandry techniques by the breeder.

As rule leos purchased directly from a breeder are less likely to harbor infections. But, all new leos should be quarentined just in case.
