Here's my rack system now, but.....

Carlos_n_Paco Apr 03, 2004 10:09 PM

.....I wanna change it. I don't like the idea of the rack being aluminum. It holds the cold in the winter & the heat in the summer. I'd like to make something out of wood, some sort of shelving unit, but can't find anything I like online.

Is there some sort of website out there where you can type in your specs/demensions & it will give you a printable type blueprint? In other words, I know what I want to do in my head, but I want to be able to type it in & print out a plan so I can build it.....make sense?

Ps.any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have a metal rack exactly like that holding 2 of my cages as well. They basicly suck. lol

If you want to keep the glass cages then what you are going to need is a roll out. What I mean is kind of like a desk where the key board is on a little roll out part. Just use good ply board, and heavy duty rollers. Just do the dimensions to that of what you need. I don't think there is a site where you enter your dimensions and it comes up with a plan for you. You have to draw it up yourself and make adjustments as you go along.

Hey, that's exactly what I was thinking.....on the same lines as you're saying w/ the rollout idea, but I'm not sure that it would support the weight of the tank/viv once it's pulled open.....know what I mean?

I would think that if it is a good roll system then it should support it. You should be able to pull the cage out on the roll without having to pull it completely out. And still be able to get into the tank to do what you need to do.
