Solution to low humidity

KaylaB Feb 07, 2003 12:13 PM

I've had trouble getting my BP's humidity to anything over 40% or so without having to mist every few hours. Well, I have a problem with dry skin myself in the winter, and my mother suggested I buy a room humidifier. Got one for about $35, and not only is my skin doing better, but the humidity in the tank stays around 70% now.

Might not work for everyone, but I just have a one bedroom apartment, and this seems to have done the trick. But I guess I'll see after he sheds again!

I tried that- it wound up raising the humidity one or two percent... but that was it. It has a filter and a bunch of other options I'd never use, I ended up taking it back because the room didn't feel like a rainforest, maybe I should install an indoor sprinkling system... lol.

I have discovered something that works great! I put a flat-sided fishbowl on its side in my snake's tank and filled it with damp sponges.
The snake loves it and is ALWAYS curled up in there now! I just rinse the sponges really well every few days. Her last shed was perfect!
