Regurg more of a problem in particular species?

Tigergenesis Apr 04, 2004 08:18 AM

I visit various species on this and other forums and it seems that I see a lot of posts for regurg problems in corn snakes. Does regurg seem to be more common in particular species (if so I'm curious which ones) than others or is this just a coincedence?

I think it can be in some high stress species. Chondros seem to have issues, someone mentioned that their BRB took smaller than 'normal' prey or would regurg. (My BRB is fine but I think I tend to feed smaller)
I think you are seeing more regurgs on the corn board due to the huge number of newbies with corns. Folks that get a corn and don't know not to handle it a lot or soon after eating, who don't have the experience to judge prey size and who don't have their husbandry down.
That said I have also talked to folks that have some of the morphs in corns or rats that seem more likely to have issues. So maybe they have some of the durability bred out of them.

also many corns are great eaters and people might have the tendency to overfeed them, pretty sure that was the reason the only time I have ever had a snake in my care regurgitate dinner
