Gecko sleeping behaviors?

InsideOutsider13 Apr 04, 2004 10:33 AM

Just a simple little question I had, because I have yet to see my crested shut his eyes. I know that they don't have eyelids, so does this mean they do not shut their eyes when sleeping? They obviously lick their eyes to keep them moist and clean, but what about when sleeping? Do the eyes shut or stay open?

I don't have a crested yet, but I've read that when they sleep their eyes kind of sink into their skulls and the crests fold down partly over their eyes. But you can still see the eyes.

Think about what you just said.....you know they don't have eyelids, so how could they possibly close their eyes? Do snakes close their eyes?

When they sleep, their slits become almost 1 very fine line in their eye, & yes the eyelash does sorta fold down, just a bit tho.
