Beardie Not Eating

dragon_lover Apr 04, 2004 11:41 AM

I have had my bearded dragon, Lelusha, seince Agust 2003, she is almost 2 years old now so she should have had her first winter shut down this past winter right? She did not seem to eat any less during this last winter, but she is my first beardie to have made it to their first winter shut down, the other two were from pet stores and were wc, so I did not know exzactly what to look for. For the last few months mmy family and I have been extremely busy and I was not home most of the time, so no one was there to take care of her, so she would normally eat every other day or every 3 days, but she would eat a lot at a time. Now I am home every day and have been offering her food every day and spraying her and doing everything like I should but she will not eat. Last time sh at was about 5 days ago, she had about 5-7 large sized crickets, every day seince I have offerd her food but she will not accept it. I have even left worms and crickets in there for days to give her time to decide that they look appetizing, she only gets bored with them and competley ignores them. What is wrong with her? What can I do? I have attached a picture, she still seems to be alert and healthy, but I am worried about her poor eating habbits, and I fear that it is my fault. Thanks

With brumation, they will tend to want to sleep and not be alert and active. So I think that's not the problem. If I were you I'd take him into the vet for a once over including a parasite test. Also, start weighing him so you can track any weight loss. Good luck!

(just curious, how do you know your first 2 beardies were WC? WC beardies are very very very rare.)

hmm. i thought i had read that they eat less too.. I don't have a weighing thing.. could i use a food scale?
someone told me they were wc but they may not have been, they were from petz mart and well, petz mart is not a very good place to buy living things from. They were also increadibly small, and not very healthy. I don't know it was about 4 years ago too. She is also very bloated now, in her beard and all of her stomach and seems to be trying to push something out, she may just need to poo, but I soaked her and she did not. I will have to try again later. Thanks!
