The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have run a vociferous campaign against the keeping of reptiles and amphibians as companion animals in the UK for several years. The current RSPCA policy claims that Exotic animals such as snakes and lizards often carry disease, are difficult to look after and are unsuitable as companion animals.
