New Chinese Water Dragons!!

dragon_lover Apr 04, 2004 11:54 AM

I am a first time water dragon owner, my friend and I had been looking into getting a moutain horned dragon off the internet and went to Animal Jungle to look for cage supplies, while at the store we saw the water dragons and fell in love. I had been looking at them for some time and decided to get one for each of us. They are so adorable, we have not named them yet any suggestions? They are both males.

My male dragon was named Rascal, which fit him he was always getting into trouble

You don't have the males together do you? They will fight eventually, you can't house males together.

They are together for now, only a few weeks at the most, and they are still babies and were together in the pet store. The other one is my friends and will be going home with her as soon as we get our cages built. I'm thinking of naming mine Yoshi or Ananda which means ectasy or bliss.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they are old enough to tell their sex, they'd be old enough to get terratorial once they've gotten over the shock of the pet store. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Onec they get around 12-14" you can normally tell there sex, but it doesnt matter cause their going to be seperated. What size cages are you guys building?

im not sure yet. My dad is building it, proably out of some old furnature coverd with the right type of wood and stuff (he is the one who knows) but around 4-5 ft wide, 3ft deep and 5-6 ft tall... does that sound ok? they said the lizzard gets to be about 3.5 ft long so that should be big enough. I also have some reptile smart people helping me out with the details from Animal Zone (one of the only near by and educated pet stores)

I named one of my water dragons Yoshi. But I had to get rid of both of them before I went to college. I'm going to name my new ball python Asus when I get it. I figure since they can't make good computer parts mabye at least their name is good for something Anyway good luck with it!

I'm realy not sure, I have never had two lizzards together before, but I guess we will find out. They will be seperated in a few days, and are not even eating (from shock) yet, so there is not much to worry about. We are in the process in making them cages now, and I am keeping a realy close eye on them, so I will notice any agressiveness. They seem fine now though.
