jeune18 Apr 04, 2004 12:25 PM

i was looking at everyone's pictures on here and it seems like your lizards are huge compared to mine. like on eve's "lizard porn" photo (ha ha) their tails are really really big. i just want to make sure that i am doing things right also i got my lizards from pet stores and they just said they were collared lizards. how do you tell which type? i just thought it would be fun to know.

For EDUCATIONAL purposes only, I'll have you know, so there, LOL

And as far as the TAILS on mine being so fat and big, hhehehe

These are C. Vestiguim (baja collareds) they are bigger looking, they have laterally compressed tails.

Sort of flattened , but higher, thicker look, than the C. Collaris, more rounded tails.

Your collareds are fine, LOL quit picking on my romantic photos,

of course it was for educational purposes! it makes me giggle all the same, i guess with some things i will never mature. i love all the pics on this website and it makes me jealous that my lizards have no flashy colors, well except ivan the girl's orange spots.
it is good to know that my lizards are just fine. the oldest one i have had for a year and a half so they probably have alot more growing to do. i read somewhere that you should not pick up your pregnant lizards...is that true because i am having ivan withdrawal.

there could be some fear of them leaping from your hands onto a hard floor. I've always handled the lizards though, and examined them for eggs/etc. I have never had any problems with that.

great news because i love my lizards and feel bad when i don't hold them and i don't have to worry about children. i am paranoid anyway and always sit on the floor when i am holding them because in my old apartment walter the first (god rest his soul)saw the open space by the stairs while i was standing and decided to make a leap for it and ended up falling from the second story to the first. it did not kill him or even hurt him because he started climbing the stairs and i swear he was looking at me with the expression "gee mom that was fun. can i do it again?" they really are crazy lizards.
