Has anyone personally tried these??? If so what brand is best, and i have seen few pictures of them in use, is the light a "greenish" color?

Yep - I've used them for a couple years now. I use the T-rex 160-watt flood lamps on both of my igs. The positive change in both was nothing short of spectacular. They became more active, showed better color, and their appetites increased dramatically within a matter of days, and they've been going strong ever since. The bulbs are expensive, but I think they're worth it since they provide both adequate heat and UVB. (I run the mercs 12-14 hrs a day, and keep ceramic heaters on 24/7 to provide added warmth overnight.) They say you can get two years out of a single bulb, but I'd day it's more like one year, even with it being on only about half the time. (They might last longer if the buggers would quit snorting salt up onto them!) The color on mine is pretty much solid white; I don't notice any trend toward green or any other color.

i use them cause i have a really big cage
but i am a new owner and that was what was recommended to me.
(it also ended up being cheaper cause i didn't have to buy the hood fixture $220)
i can't see any green light but some of the picture i have taken when the light is on sometimes catches a green hue just around the bulb. But i only noticed this in pictures i have taken with my really cheap digi cam.
