what is squash

ok im confused..ive seen on iguana and other reptile sites squash is good vegetable..what is it???im in uk so we must call it something else???is it cabbage????

It is a type of vegetable, sort of like a small pumpkin, but it comes in many shapes and colors. I don't know the best way to describe it so I'll show you a picture....

Zucchini is a form of squash. It is a gourd vegatable. Most of them are shaped like gourds. They are typically yellow but obviously zuchinni is green.

A squash is alot of thing really, it's a whole range of vegetable, pumpkin is probably the most popular of the squashes. For bearded dragons and iguana, summer squash is typically recommended. Other squashes are pepper squash, spagetti squash, eggplant, butternut squash, and others.

If you've ever encountered marrow, its a type of squash. I don't know how many varieties you'll find across the pond, most squashes are native to North America and would have to be imported or seeds cultivated in England.
