Signs of sheding?

phibia5 Apr 04, 2004 02:08 PM

My veiled has been acting differently over the past few days, i don't think it is much to worry about, i think he is ready to shed. He hasn't been eating that much latley, last time he ate was yesterday afternoon, he had one circket. He has been drinking, but for some reason he doesent like to be sprayed anymore. I havent been spraying him directly, but he seems to get annoyed when i am spraying his encloser. Today i found him on the bottom of his cage, something he rarley does , i don't think it is because he is over heated, but just incase i'll be lowering the cage temperature. Besides that, i can see his skin ready to shed, hopefully he will shed soon.

Have you changed the type of mister you use? I have a really fine one that I use for misting her directly (and i use hot water) and another one for her cage that I make sure doesn't get near her (it is higher pressure).

Keep that humidity up during shed time so he sheds all his skin easily. What are your temps?

The general cage temp is roughly 70-75 degress, the basking temp is about 90 degress. i have been using a regular spray bottle as a mister, i give him high quality drinking water (a.k.a non tap). I turn off the heat lamp during the night which he seems to prefer.
