Turtles are eating

ew1074 Apr 04, 2004 02:30 PM

They ate for the first time today. I was surprised when i looked in and saw both turtles with a reptomin stick in their mouth, then they reached up with their arms and broke the piece off. I had no idea it would be so cute to watch them eat, lol. I have a mealworm question. I breed mealworms for my leopard geckos, do i need really small ones or will any size work? I think mine might be a tad too big for them. Also, do i just put the worm in the water? Will they eat it even if it dies? My leopard geckos wont touch anything thats not alive. Thanks alot!

Turtles generally will eat anything, dead or alive. You have to put whatever you are feeding them in the water, because turtles can't swallow out of the water. I have never found anything too big for them to eat, they will take whatever fit in their mouths and rip the rest apart. They will even attack and eat fish that are nearly as big as they are.
