Forgive me if I am stupid...

I have been working with Ball Pythons ONLY! The only other herps I have owned are tree frogs, salamanders, toads, gartner snakes, all kinds of small turtles, ect... what ever I foud out side. I am just starting my Ball Python breeding, I plan on breeding leos soon also, but I am still doing my research. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried mternal incubation with leos? I know my BPs can (and will), but I have never heard of it in leos. If it is possible (which I don't see a reason for it not to be, they do it in the wild) what would I have to do to prepare them and care for the eggs (as far as temps, humidity, ect...)? I hae yet to read anywhere of anyone that lets leos incubate maternally, if you do please give me some details. Thanks! Krystal

not the best if you want good results. Go to www.albeysreptiles.com and look under the how to incubate section this is the very best I have found so far. You can build a cheap incubator by taking a 48 qaurt cooler and a submersible fish tank heater. Cut a small slot under the lid for cords and add 4 inches of water. I used a cut down refridgerator grate with some little brackets to hold it up off the water to hold the deli cups. You can hold it up with bricks or whatever too. Just so you have something to keep your containers out of the water. Set the water temp with the tank heater the water will heat the air. I used this and Albeys method this year for 100% good results.

In the wild, I am pretty sure that a female will lay eggs, and then leave. She doesnt incubate them like bp's. Nature incubates them more. Not a good thing try. Just stick with a hovabator or home-made incubator. Also, what will happen if the babies hatch and the mother decides she is a little hungry??? Good-bye babies. It is very different from mammmals.
