Dumerils - where to get in northern, CA

XJOEX Apr 04, 2004 07:08 PM

I posted a while back asking about a good indo monitor for a beginner... I was looking at an argus, a bad choice for me I think.. After doing some research on Dumerils monitors both on this forum and elsewhere, I think that v. dumerilii is a really good choice for me, after I do a little modifying to my cage.

My problem is where to find a captive bred specimen. Does anyone know of a breeder of these guys in california, specifically northern CA? I assume some people have heard of the east bay vivarium.. they said they will for sure get WC ones.. which I'm not down with. All the other reptile shops around the area that I know of say the same thing.

Thanks a lot everybody!

That is cool. I am in nor cal as well and looked everywhere for dums.
East bay had a juvi and two big adults... the juvi "released" all over my shoe. I would like one, but I am new to varanus, so I may go with an ackie. I looked alot, and found that I would have to buy from another state to get a cb dum. Good luck.

Yeah same for me - someone from another forum told me about a buddy in Arizona that breeds them, which sucks, because I JUST got back from Pheonix. It was on www.[bleep].com. Maybe you can post a 'wanted' ad in there and see if he replies to you too.

Ya, in my search for dumerils I found quite a bit of people that deal with them. So, good luck and post pics if you get it!
