Great news on the status of the Coast Horned Lizard

Jeff Judd Apr 04, 2004 08:22 PM

In a report by Bayard Brattstrom he reports their is a minimum of 21 million p. coronatum left in southern CA alone! 75% of it's original range is still intact and of that 50% is on lands that can never be developed. Post 1985 records have increased from 672 to 1148. What great news.

The report isn't found on the internet. It's titled, Distribution and Estimates of Abundance of the Coast Horned Lizard, Phrynosoma coronatum. I can e-mail you an abstract if you like.

The Status Report was rejected by CF&G after being reviewed by several organizations and peers. I have the original and the published versions and it is full of discrepensies not supported by verifiable documentation. CF&G has sued to recover grant funds paid.
