for inexpensive enclosures try calling the nearest reptile rescue and see if they have any secondhand aquariums. I'm from virginia and i know the va reptile rescue sells aquariums and mesh enclosures that i guess were donated with various unwanted/mean/just-could't-take-care-of-this-animal-i-bought-from-the-pet-store/etc.

Also, hit up local yard and garage sales, just b/c a tank won't hold water doesn't mean it can't hold your herp.

Oh and it goes without saying that any secondhand aquarium be cleaned and treated with whatever may be necessary prior to introducing a reptile or amphibian of any type to get rid of any diseases or parasites that may linger in th empty enclosures.
