John Lokken, Question for you

rick s. Jun 13, 2003 08:55 AM

I can't remember if I asked you or not, but, do you keep retics? I sometimes lurk on the retic forum, not for a while though, and I thought you had a few. If so, do you have any experiene with Kayaudi (sp?) dwarfs?

Just wondering,
Rick S.

Hey Rick (hiya!)
Of course, this isn't John, but I thought I could shed a little light..
John doesn't have his retic anymore, he sold him I believe
what was it, last year? Beautiful retic!! He didn't have
a dwarf tho as far as I remember, but was using a low-feeding
schedule. I was interested in the dwarf retics myself but I
am holding out for now... I want to wait until they are bred
in captivity more, color and temperment improves and knowledge
of their eventual size is shown more. (as more grow up in captivity) I like the albino retics and I know they been
bred with dwarfs so it will be neat to see the eventual
dwarf albinos.

I had two retics. One was a Super and one was a Tiger. Both were wonderful animals to keep. But, we had a baby and I just got nervous having a snake that big with a baby. No matter how tame retics are.....They will never be as mellow as a boa. IMHO.
I will get one again someday.......But, not for a while. If I do......It probably will be a "dwarf" Tiger or Super.
Other than that.........No real experience with dwarf retics. Other than........Dwarf retics still get pretty darn big!
Have a good one..
John
