Egg question (important..to me anyways..)

tokay_dude1 Apr 05, 2004 02:30 AM

Ok..so my fertile eggs have been incubaing for 4 weeks and 5 days at 83*f

i checked on them today and the bottoms of both have turned somewhat yellow and the tops are still white...they're definatly fertile..they both have a whole mass of red veins that show when i candle and one if bigger than the other...is this bad? that the underside has turned yellow? im guessing its been like that for a couple of weeks...im just worried because i look at other pics of eggs and they look normal, my guess is that it was to moist or damp in there, i've squeezed some water out and i'll be monitoring them much more from now on...

could just be a little bit of staining from the substrate you have got them in. If you`r using vermiculite (sp?) which is kind of a yellow/gold colour or even pertile which can chage to a duller colour with time and absorbing the minerals out of the water.

can`t say for sure but it`s something to think about.... )

Its from the water...to much moisture causes them to turn that yellow color...it happened when i moistened up some dry eggs with a moist paper towel...they should be fine if you removed some water...
