Orchid bark for Corns?

qime Apr 05, 2004 08:37 AM

I am wondering about how suitable orchid bark is for corn snakes. I am going to move my guy off papertowels and back into a more natural setting, and I have tons of orchid bark hanging around because I use it for my phelsuma. Is it too dusty? Too easily ingested?

There are probably people who use it, but I wouldn't. Aspen shavings or CareFresh are the way to go. I know most "bark-blends" are NOT good for snakes, but I don't know for sure about Orchid bark. (aspen is probably cheaper than Orchid bark anyway, so might as well save the bark for your garden)

Thanks for the advice. It kinda seemed a little wrong. I guess I should just trust my gut. I'll leave my supply to my cresteds and day geckos and pick up some aspen the next time I'm at the shop.
