HELP- i gave my baby veiled not eating.

atomic626 Apr 05, 2004 11:38 AM

I have a all screen setup about 36 inches high, 24 inches wide. My baby females 2, are eating fine, but the male isn't. I put the food in, he won't go down to get the food. He will just stay porched on the top of the leaves highest point of the cage. The females will go down and eat it, but unless it's right next to him, he will starve. He hasn't eaten for about 2 days now, and they are all approximately a month old i believe.

Any advise?
Thx in advance.

I'm not an expert of anything, but my male veiled prefers when the crickets run around the cage. He also prefers to sit high up in his encloser and when one walks by he will eat it. Maybe your male would prefer it if some crickets were crawling around where he likes to be in the encloser versus the bottom of the of it....

Yea, your right, but the problem is when i dump the crickets on the leaves they don't stay they eventually wither there way down. Hmmm, but you did give me a bit of a idea. Maybe I need to construct a way for the crickets to get to the pot after they fall. But I dunno......

Thinking of putting him in a aquarium and keeping sticks at the bottom just a lil bit from the ground so that he can take the food easier. Just that he climbs the screen to get to the highest point, and crickets don't.

Dang, he's worst than having a kid or something he he he.

We'll, my cage is an 18x18x24 all screen, and i usualy set the crickets on the sides of the screen near him, when he sees them wandering around he will usually follow them.

it's my understanding that you can house babies in a glass enclosure until they are about 3 months old. You may want to try this. When you think about the size of your cage and the size of the chams it can be a long way to go in its search for food. You may also consider separating them into smaller individual cages.

Here's another option for caging
