Egg Bound

charky2002 Apr 05, 2004 12:46 PM

This is my first time breeding bearded dragons. I have a gravid female that is very unactive and a bit unresponsive. I have an egg laying box (with vermiculite); she will lay in the box but not dig. I know its rare but could she possibly be egg bound?? If so is there a way to cure her of this because I really don't want to loose her. I'm hoping this is normal behaviour but if its not could somebody help me out, thanks.

I forgot to add that she has stopped eating but from what I have researched that is common if she is just about to lay her eggs. Also I have quite a few books and websites on breeding beardies already but if anyone has a good site to recommend it would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds normal to me.... few questions first.

How long ago was she bred?
How long ago did she stop eating?
Is she well hydrated? (I have found females tend to get very thirsty a few days before laying)
How big is the laying box and what mixture do you have in there for "dirt"?
