How is a respiratory infection treated?

khandof Apr 05, 2004 01:30 PM

I have a dragon with a respiratory infection. I have a vet appointment on Wednesday and I was wondering what I could do a little about the treatment before I went. If anyone has ever been in this situation can you please share your knowledge?

Thanks in advance,

Khando

Never been in the situation, but one thing I have read over and over is up the overall temps in the cage and keep that vet appt of yours. For an respitory infection you HAVE to go to a vet to get some meds.

what were the symptoms of your dragon i think mine might have one too

The symptoms my dragon has are a hissing or weezing with her head pointed towards the air, kinda like she's trying to breathe. It kinda looks like she has the hiccups. I know it's not natural and I've done a little research online and it sounds like a respiratory infection.

I hope your dragon doesn't have a respiratory infection. It's kinda scary when something is wrong and you don't know what's going on. I hope this helps, and please keep me posted.

Generally you bump the over all cage temps up and make sure to keep them well hydrated. Some of the "mild" cases can clear up by themselves, but worse cases require vet care and antibiotics.

Keep that vet appt.
