weird scales, anybody tell me whats going on?

freezermink Apr 05, 2004 03:03 PM

so its been a couple weeks since my corn has shed, and just the other day, i noticed just 2 scales on his right side about 3 inches back behind his head that were strange, deformed, whatever. i have no idea what is going on. everything else on jimmy has been absolutely as healthy as can be. never refused a meal, sheds are perfect etc. his tank is humid and has good temps. doesnt seem to be affecting his demenor at all, he's still active and really tame and everything. is it just some scale rot or something that will be replaced by good scales once he sheds again? here's a close up pic of the scales. any ideas?

looks like those scales just went wrong...when they shed...something happened,,and the moisture between the old and new skin screwed up in these scales....and they got "hurt" and look shriveled and brown...they may shed out better next time..they may look crappy forever....it hurts nothing....

(how do you like all those "technical terms"..LOL)..

easiest way to relate to you........how they may have been damaged.

have fun.....JY

well i dunno if i can comprehend all that... all those technical terms. heh. that does make me feel better. it didn't seem like anything serious, but it never hurts to ask on this forum, someone always knows whats up. we'll see what happens in a couple weeks when he gets ready to shed again. thanks for the info-

well thats cool. makes me feel better. now that i look up close there are a few more scattered around, maybe 3 or 4. i'm suprised i hadn't noticed before, so they must be recent. i'm hoping they shed off in the next couple weeks. thanks for the info-
