How long before handling ?

Mizar 21 Apr 05, 2004 05:42 PM

I have my gecko for about a week now, he eats fine, but he is still very shy, hiding all the time. He is about 4 inch. When can i start to handle him ? To tame him.

Hi

You can start now. Talk to him before you put your hands in the tank to get him, the whole time you are hold him and when you put him back, that way he can start associating your hands with your kind voice. Do this until you notice that he has really started to settle down with you.

After he has settled down with you (of which he will in his own time) then when you go to pick him up you could just talk to him before you pick him up in his tank, just to let him now it's you and to give the gecko a warning that you are going to be in his tank.
