my toad refuses to go in the water...........

shes an american toad and wi;d caught and every time i come in to check on her to she what shes up to shes always in 1 of here 2 cave i ve had her for 2 weeks and i every time i pick her up and put her in the water she hops out whats wrong or is there anything wrong

PS:the water has been dechloinated theres no chlorine in the water oh yea its breeding season for them where i live and they always mate in the water

Your toad probably soaks when you aren't watching. There is no way you are watching the toad 24 hours a day. And even then, most toads are not repeatedly soaking. I rarely, if ever, find toads soaking in the wild. 99% of the time they are under rocks, soil, or other discarded objects. Your toad will be fine. If it wants water and has water available, it will use it.

You could always mist the toad, using very warm water in a clean never-used-before spray bottle. (When you fill it with hot water and spray the water out, it mysteriously cools down; it's weird.) But I'd definately make sure the water is dechlorinated before spraying.
Toads get most of their moisture from the area around them (moist soil, plants, etc.) So as long as their environment is misted daily (but not soggy; too much wetness will only get you a bunch of mold) your toad should be OK. But he is probably going to the bowl when you're not looking, as Andy suggested.
