Another question about heating

mom2autumnnreign Apr 05, 2004 07:26 PM

Hey,
In the summer time i have the a/c turned up pretty high....so during those times I plan on useing a 60 watt light bulb along w/ a uth to keep the tank at least 87-90 during daytime....My question was should I get a "Human" heating pad and place it under the tank???...or one they sell at the store for reptiles...I noticed you can't reulate temps w/ those thats why im asking.....and if you guys use a reptile uth what brand name do you use???...thanks ahead of time.

what i did was bought a exoterra reptile UTH and i use a 100 watt bulb for a 29 gallon tank. i bought the smallest UTH that way during the day it adds just a little heat and at night it keeps an area of the tank above 80. during the day the warm side is around 87-90 degrees. thats just the way i do it, i'm sure someone else here has another way to do it, possibly more to your liking.

Thanks for your info....OH and btw thank you for reminding me I should have said this before...this is a 10 gallon long tank and is going to be housing one baby gecko....I'm just trying to get the temps perfect before I go out and buy one.
