Underside of a leo

tallyost Apr 05, 2004 08:51 PM

I was giving my leo an inspection tonight and noticed that the ventral side has kind of a spade shape outline near the front of the vent. Is this normal? If so does anyone know what it could be? Thanks.

Hi

This is normal, and you can see it more visible on a male than a female.

Does anybody know what it actually is? I am kind of new at having herp pets and am very inquisitive on how these animals work being a Wildlife Conservation major.

They are called preanal pores. They secret a waxy substance(At least, that I've noticed on mine. )
