new snakes!! ( E.bimaculata) Twin spotted Rat Snakes

sigbboy Apr 05, 2004 09:28 PM

Are these cool looking rat snakes or what. After picking up some Russian Rat Snakes from Terry Cox and Larry Keller some years ago I always told myself I would get some of these someday. Sunday, at our Reptile Expo in Omaha, a friend had a pair for sale. Could not pass these guys up. They are only around eight months old so I have around three long years before I can produce someI have been breeding and keeping Solomon Island Ground Boas and Kingsnakes lately and its kinda funny how fast these little guys caught my attention again so fast! I havent posted here in a long time so I was just curious as to who was still keeping them Randy W.

I keep a single pair, and hope to add another pair or two to the collection later on this year. Hopefully i will produce my first offspring this year as well.

I agree Randy. They are fascinating snakes. I've had them since about '96 and always kept them in ten gal. setups. They make great pets. I'm rapidly specializing in small snakes only and bimacs have been at the top of my list for a long time.

The snake Jan showed is very light brown. I have one that I'm trying to get the genes combined with other colors. I call it the "blonde" phase. Bimacs will someday have lots of color variations. One herper is working with an albino, and I also have a silver phase.

Here's one that's het. for blonde (only the one parent was blonde) that I've shown before, but put up here for the sake of argument...

Thanks for the info on the different colors of these guys. It sounds like I have some catching up to do on whats going on with the asian rats. I thought about selling the Russians a couple of times but just couldn't do it.They have to be one of my all-time favorite snake! Randy
