Got some Hybrid double het eggs today,.... more

BrianSmith Apr 05, 2004 09:40 PM

Woke up to a nice clutch of burm/rock hybrid, double het albino patternless eggs this today. I wasn't surprised, I have been expecting them for over a week now. But it was still very exciting as I am quite certain that nobody else in the world is producing these except me. It's a pretty cool feeling.

I will post some pictures a little later today or maybe tomorrow. I still have to box them and put them into the incubator. But from what I see so far it looks like it is ALL big white healthy eggs. Looks about 20 or 25. I'll post the figure later with the pictures.

So far there are only 21, but she still has a mass inside of her body. I'll just have to wait and see what she has. I just hope that she will be okay. I have never had a girl retain eggs before and I don't want anything to happen to her. If she doesn't have the rest in 2 days time I will rush her to my personal vet. She's my baby and is much more important than any number of eggs to me.

There are 2 duds too by the way. The good eggs are huge. I will post some pics in a little while.

that is so cool. How do you know that the albino and patternless genes carry over to the other animal?

Because the animal is part burmese it will of course host the morph genes inherent to that species. Color or pattern morph genes are no different than ordinary burmese pattern genes and those clearly carry over and mix with the rock pattern and color. I am dying to see just how these babies will look and how this gene "soup" will turn out.
