Expanding foam background question.

Frank_Williams Apr 05, 2004 10:00 PM

I have a 44 gallon aquarium that I'm using for Mantella Laevigata, and have completed foaming one side of it. However, when it expanded, the foam went all the way to the bottom of the tank. Should I try to get rid of this, or can I just silicone over it? Thanks alot all.

Are you saying that the foam settled due to gravity, or just expanded more than you had expected? Just as a precaution, I wouldn't reccomend leaving the bare foam sitting in water. You can trim it easily with a razor blade or serrated knife, but I doubt if it would hurt anything if you just left it as is and coated it with silicon.

It expanded greater than I had expected. I decided to take the safe route and cut off about 2 inches of the stuff from the bottom of the tank. Now I just need to wait for it all to cure and find some way to put an even coat of silicone on it. Thanks for the reply.
