I finally started hatching Leopard torts.
So far, 6 have hatched and 3 of those have one to two extra scutes.
They are all doing great--growing well and very active.
Here's the first one to hatch--perfect.

Here are two babies together, the left one has an extra scute.

And here is the same pic with extra scute outlined, so you can see what I am talking about.

Any idea what caused this? (I know high incubator temps. are resposible for deformities in many herps., and I have been incubating them at 86, as all the books I have read recommend.)
Hopefully I can correct this problem this year. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
