Fluctuating incubating temps...

sutmae Apr 06, 2004 08:03 AM

My temps in my hovabator fluctuate around 2-3 degrees F but always stay within 83-86 degrees. Are there any dangers with this, or does it not matter as long as the temps are within a good range?

I`m not 100% that they do change this much as I have a digital thermometer in the hovabator and a normal one and both of these stay around the same temperature, maybe .5 - 1 degree change in 24 hours, but I have one out side the hovabator with a probe going inside and this is the one thats constantly changing.

Thanks,

Sutmae

Well first, the sex is determine by the first 2 weeks.
Second I had my homemade incubator change from 92 to 78 degrees in a period of 4 days, and the egg still hatched.

I wont worry about it then. I know the sex is determined by the temperature during the first 2 weeks but at this stage I`m only aiming for healthy leos, not fussed on what sex they are really.

Thanks!
