Tell tale signs

ShiaKun Apr 06, 2004 10:04 AM

Hey guys, I need some tell tale signs for red-tails. How can you tell when they're young if they will turn out as "boa contrictor imperator" or "boa constrictor contrictor". I know that many times in the U.S. stores will sell constrictors as imperators and I also know that imperators end up significantly smaller than true red-tails. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

There is no reason why you can't tell what they are as new borns. Saddle counts, coloration, saddle type (peaks), etc. I have seen VERY FEW pet stores that sell BCC, most are BCI's.
Post a pic of the snake in question (if it is of a specific one that you are asking about) and we can tell you.
What I am trying to say is there is a significant difference between the two even from the day they are born.
