WHATS UP WITH ALL THE ABBERANT BOAS BEING CALLED JUNGLES???

ruben14 Apr 06, 2004 10:14 AM

FIRST WE GET THE CUNGLES AND NOW EVERYONE WITH ABBERANT BABIES ARE CALLING THEM THEIR NEW LINE OF JUNGLES. IMO I THINK THESE PEOPLE, AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE,ARE BEING VERY MISLEADING.ESPECIALLY TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE NEW TO THIS HOBBY. IT'S NOT FAIR TO MAKE THEM THINK THERE GETTING A DEAL ON A LEGIT JUNGLE WHEN THERE REALLY JUST PAYING TOO MUCH FOR A NICE ABBERANT ONE.I'M NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING WITH THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE DOING THIS,I JUST THINK YOU GUYS NEED TO SELL YOUR ABBERANTS FOR WHAT THEY ARE AND BE HONEST BUINESS MEN AND WOMEN.

THANKS,RUBEN MICHEL

jun·gle ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jnggl)
n.
1.Land densely overgrown with tropical vegetation.
2.A dense thicket or growth.
A dense, confused mass; a jumble.
3.Something made up of many confused elements; a bewildering complex or maze:
sorting through the jungle of regulations.
4.A place or milieu characterized by intense, often ruthless competition or struggle for survival: the corporate jungle.

so that being said... if you came across a new albino,

an anial lacking all melanin, and visibly obviously albino

that was not related, and possibly/probably not compatible with the exsisting proven strains, and you prove it out,

repeat PROVEN OUT

you would then by all rights have every reason to announce a new strain of albino. even though the name is 'taken' your animal cleary fits the description, and is clearly proven, and you can back it up with photo documentation, its still an albino.

i dont know the extent that the 'new jungle' lines have been tested/proven, but its more than likley that there is more than one genetic strain out there that can cause the complex abberant patterns seen in jungles.

some of the 'new lines' of jungles, as seen here on this board, arent remotley abberent, and couldnt be backed up by jack squat.
these are also named after 'the jungle they come from', rather than knowing what jungle really means, or at least how it relates to the genetic trait description.
be weary. but if someone can provide the proper info on the genetics, and back it up beyond a shadow of a doubt, theres no reason there cannot be a 'type 2 jungle'.

we have type 1 and 2 anerys, sharp, kahl and T positive albinos, colombian and CA motleys, several lines of pastels... theres no reason a LEGITIMATE, second line of jungles cannot be established. this does not mean every litter of abberant animals should be called 'type 8 and 9 and 10' jungles... it means you do the kind of test breeding over and over to identify the trait, and its behavior.

im not really into morphs, so i could be way off base....
but this is how i view the situation as its been developing over the last few months.

again, just a view and an opinion.

That is what I've heard. I'm somewhat convinced but admit that I don't understand it totally. For example, what is the result of a Swedish Jungle and a proven highly abberant litter. How do you tell the difference between the Jungles and the abberants since they both have the same look? Does anyone have experience with this?

I think it would be a guessing game. Someone could buy a $3500 animal and just purchased a nice abberant. It will be scary when this starts happening.

Someone can buy a Swedish Jungle for $3500 and a nice proven abberant for $400 and sell the ENTIRE litter as Jungles. How would anyone know unless they test it by breeding a Swedish line Jungle to it. Scary huh?

Show me one single "super" from even ONE of these supposed "new line Jungles",and,we'll go from there?...truth is,not only are these folks trying to dupe customers, and, ride a bandwagon they themselves don't even understand,I've not seen one single bit of credible proof that more than one single breeding has been done with ANY of them to ascertain if it's even reliably genetic...it seems there are a growing number of folks in this industry that are willing to trade their reputation, and, credibility for some quick cash...my advice...if you can get a "new line Jungle" for $100-$300 and, want to spend some time proving it to be something genetic,cool....if you pay anymore than that, without some hard evidence it's more than just an abberant import,or,one time breeding anomoly...your getting ripped off!!! it's "Sea Monkey see....Sea Monkey do" *lol* if you'll give them your money, they'll darned sure take it! Caveat Emptor!!!
