The other day I was feeding my snakes and had an interesting thing happen. I was giving a f/t mouse to my desert king (splendida) who has a great feeding response. I had the mouse on the tongs and presented it to him in a feeding container. He totally missed the mouse and almost jumped out of the sweater box heading for me. I held a plastic bag with one more mouse in it for my knoblochi so used the bag to move the snake back into the box. It worked well the first time but then he shot half out again. I tried the plastic bag again and the joker grabbed and rolled the bag with the mouse so fast I couldn't believe it. Now I had a problem. This guy was trying to eat the bag as well. I tried to uncoil him but that just wasn't going to happen. I was really getting concerned knowing that if I couldn't get the bag away from this guy he was a goner. I decided to try running him under some cool water to see what happened and after a few seconds he decided to let go. I got him back to his original mouse which he then chowed with no problem. Kind of scarey at the time but I still get a big smile on my face thinking about it. HA Ha!
