Drooling.. last post

rainboa Apr 06, 2004 11:21 AM

Remember this post:

Well she has been at the vets (actually, a very experienced breeder here in northern CA) for about a week and a half, and is almost back to normal. According to him, she did not have a "cold", but he had no idea what the problem was. I guess the isolation combined with perfect conditions has brought her back! Anyway, thanks again for all the advice.

Matt

Well, not only did she get worse, she died on Thursday. The drooling issue never did go away, and even with several doses of several kinds of antibiotics, she did not make it. The breeder that I had doctoring her is stumped! He looked for every conceivable illness, and could find nothing. He is positive there was never a respiratory infection. I am at a loss..

At any rate, I now have a very healthy male that is about 5 feet in length, and am in need of a female that is comparable in size. Any suggestions? Anyone out there have a female of that size and age they would be willing to sell? It seems that I will most likely be selling the male as I doubt any one would be willing to give up a breedable female of that stature.

Thanks for listening,

Matt

Matt,
. Sorry that you lost her. Several doses of several kinds of antibiotics? Looked for every concievable illness and could find nothing? Which antibiotics and what dosages for how many doses? Did anyone ever do a culture and sensitivity on the drool?
Jeff

Jeff,

He told me what he administered, and the dosages, but I do not recall what he had said. He is very reputable, so I did not question his treatment. As for checking the drool, he did mention that he "swabbed for flukes" and checked for the respiratory infection, and found nothing. Again, he is the expert so I did not question what I was told. Sorry I do not have more info available.
