Continuing a below post: Adult sounds!

ChuUtena Apr 06, 2004 11:23 AM

Okay it took me a few minutes to figure it out, but I recorded my adult female making sounds. She is the only one I've had that makes this noise or any noise for that matter. Yes I swear that she actually made these sounds. She hates to be held, so she "yells" at me when I'm holding her.

Hi

I loved hearing it. Some of mine will make the same sound now and then if they don't like something and they are all adults.

Now others can see why it is hard to describe the sound.

I've only heard this in a couple of my bigger females. I always get the feeling it is something to do with their physique when they're moving. Like when you eat a huge meal and try to move around too much, you kinda feel like groaning...?

I haven't heard this noise without my interaction; they're pretty much always in my hand, or crawling around on me or something when they do it. On the other hand, I've heard babies scream without messing with them; maybe they get spooked by others around them, or just the boogeyman in the closet or something.

When have you heard these noises?

Hi Rob

Well for me, mine have done it when I have had to try and get a good hold on them to give them medicaion that the vet. has given me, and told me to give it to them oralie.

Sometimes one will do it, like if it has crawled around behind me and I have to reach around a nab it and bring it back around to the front of me.

Sometimes they will do it when I'am trying to help them get some excess shed off of them. Not all of them do it.

Great job getting that recorded. Now that I hear it, I think your 'mimic Donald Duck' description wasn't too far off. Maybe I should play your sound byte to my leo and see if she reacts. That sound is really different from the quiet chirp mine made this morning, I guess different sounds mean different things in the gecko community.

Hi

I went in and got one of my females, so I could see if she would do anything when I played your geckos sound for her, and she did turn her head a little bit.

Grr. can't get the sound to play. I'll try later today.

TLB-
That's pretty cute knowing that other geckos are hearing my girl, AND reacting. LoL.

Rob-
She only makes that noise when I'm holding onto her. Not holding her hard, just if my fingers are wrapped around her body she gets mad. She loves to sit on my hand, just not being held.

Any anyone who can't hear it, send me an email and I'll send it to you, if you want to hear it.

bye bye!

That makes a very loud noise, almost like a chirp/squeak.
He does it for no reason too. It took me a long time to figure out which gecko it was, I would here and go to the tanks to see what was wrong, but could never figure out who it was, till I saw him do it. It is almost like he is talking or looking for something. He is also the only one that watches what I am doing, whenever I am nearby.
