First this is not a yellow throated plated lizard (G. flavigularis) but a male G. nigrolineatus.
He looks fully grown.
And: They get old. I aquired an aduklt male in 1984 and he is still as agile and healthy as the first day.

what's the difference between the two
In recent times the yellow throated plated lizard (Gerrhosaurus flavigularis)is mixed up a lot with its close relative, Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus-which in fact seems to be traded more often these days.
BTW: The Pic above this forum shoows the latter species.
And: If theres any red or significant yellow at the throat or lips of your lizard, than its flavigularis (and a male).
If it has reddish flanks with whitish small dots, its nigrolineatus.
Flavigularis has brown flanks without any dots in adults.
Also nigrolineatus grows bigger and has "rougher" scalation than flavigularis.
