Keith Hillson Apr 06, 2004 12:30 PM

While my internet access was down the last few days I decided to format some pics. Some are new some are old.

This female is 30" long. When my male is old enough (brother to yours) he will be bred to her. If I can get at least 6 more inches on her before January I will breed her to the Old Monmouth Co. male.

Keith,

Exceptional snakes and exception pics, what camera are you using?

I use a Nikon Coolpix 4300 and thanks for the compliments.

My guy is growing like a weed. He checked in at 23" with the Serpwidget last week. Thanks for all the photos.

He is growing good for you. Mine is 22" and some change. Both of these snakes should be bigger but they were an absolute pain to get going.

But I have had zero problems with him since I brought him home. I don't have much to compare him to, but his body weight ingreased by 70% during the month of March (28g to 40g). He is not fat at all either, it's pure muscle. I'm not sure how normal or usual that growth rate is. I can post the serpwidget pic when I get home tonight if you are interested in seeing the latest.

I can't remember the weights now, but the 70% increase is right. I'll have to check my notes tonight.

I got this from the book Amphibians and Reptiles of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Published in 1967 by Tennessee Press. Alot of the pics in here are the ones that are also in the Conant Field Guides but larger and sometimes different shots.

Thats an awesome looking king. Its quite unusual to see a black and white photo of a snake. Do you have any idea if the Smokey Mountains Nat Park sells an updated version of that book ?

That is the Will Still line, right? I have to get one of those. That has become my favorite line, although I've only seen those young ones you have.

Tim:
I have 2 of that one's siblings, a male & female. Although not quite a beautifully marked (or as big hehe) as him they are gorgeous all the same. I need to get better pics of them however.
Here they are:

You are very lucky. Those snakes are too cool. I'd love to see some better pics, if possible.
