angry Veiled Chameleon , very worried

phibia5 Apr 06, 2004 01:05 PM

My 6 month old Veiled Chameleon, which is about to shed has been acting different latley. I do not think he has slept in two days, his mood has changed towards me dramaticly. He hisses at me and becomes very cautious when I enter the room, when usually he is friendly and doesn't mind my company. I do not like how his attitude has changed towards me, I can't figure out what I did to him, but I hope their is some way I can make him be more friendlier. I have been trying to feed him strawberrys too, he hasn't eaten them and he hasn't eaten any crickets either. Something must be stressing him, but I can't figure out what. I haven't read anywhere that these are common symtoms of sheding, but the thing that worries me most is if he is getting sick or something, he looks healthy though and has never been sick before.
Any advice helps

Veilds are like that. It's nothing you did.
You may find some here and there that are relaxed but for the most part they will gape, hiss, and like one i had bite the heck out of you..

yeah, it's probably puberty...LOL! Luna has been irritable lately

There was a discussion not too long ago about how some chams respond to the clothing/color you are wearing! I found that if I wear one of my dark, bulky sweaters she freaks out the minute she sees me! I go change my shirt and she was fine. I tested it out a few times and it was consistent. So this might be adding to your cham's nastiness if you are wearing a color he is threatened by...it was an interesting thread.

My veiled cham Percy, who passed way about 6 months ago at the ga of 5 ;^( , used to get nasty (or should I say NASTIER?) whenever he shed...I'm talkin' about EVERY TIME he shed. I think they feel very uncomfortable and vulnerable when they are in the middle of a shed.
