Coleonyx v. variegatus Q's

GoldenGateGeckos Apr 06, 2004 01:13 PM

I have had a WC pair of coleonyx v. variegatus for about a year, and the female is now gravid. I would like to confirm what the gestation period is, what conditions she needs to lay her eggs, what temperatures to incubate the eggs, and incubation duration.
Any help?

Thanks!

Hi,

Treat them just like leopard geckos. Same egg laying box, just smaller. Incubate same as leo eggs and you will do fine. Be prepared to have 3/16" crix around as the hatchlings are tiny. They can eat a pretty big meal for their size so I used 3/16" from Southern Cricket. Some cricket companies have 1/4 that run small and the hatchlings can eat those. Coleonyx usually laid four or five clutches each season for me, not quite as many as leos but close and the time between clutches was also similar (a little longer) around 21 days, sometimes 28. Fairly sturdy babies too.

Regards,
John

check out my caresheet, Its new and still needs a bit of fine tuning. but I'd say its pretty good. I have 3 gravid female bandeds this season (and 2 gravid leos ) so I'm hoping to be successfull. I've got 3 infertile eggs, but my the one that layed them is gravid again so I'm hoping for the best. Good luck with your bandeds.
