question....

michiel1981 Apr 06, 2004 02:06 PM

I have bought this big ass terrarium and i havent got a clue what to put in it yet, and im wondering and this may be a stupid idea but putting a pair of adult columbian rainbow boas and a pair of 1 year old brazilian rainbow boas in the terrarium together.....
In care its mostly the same if im not mistaking.
Its usually not a good idea to put diff kinds of snakes together but since these are so alike i wonder

greets,

michiel

Micheil,
Columbian Rainbow Boas need somewhat higher temps than BRB's and not as high humidity. You also run the risk of possible breeding between the two species (bad, bad idea IMHO) down the road.

If it is large enough to seal off two seperate sides and you have a way to have different heat and humidity on each side... its probably easier to just buy another container tho..

I know the humidity and temp may not be the optimun for both sub species, but the worst thing is that you could have babies form those two differents sub-species and the genus Epicrates is alraedy really complicated to start dealing with crosses.

Hehe i have no experience at all when it comes to breeding but therefor i bought my brazilian boas young at 6 month old and are now 1 year old so i still have around 2 years to learn more about breeding them
